A bow mount Pinpoint Trolling Motor gives a fisherman the most control over his boat while fishing. It pulls the boat through the water and gives better control and maneuverability than one designed to mount on the transom. Any boat 14 feet or longer can accommodate a bow mount, though you may have to modify the bow if it doesn’t have a front deck. You’ll need a front deck large enough to secure the mounting base to it and to allow enough room to stow the entire shaft and motor head on the deck without hanging out over the bow.
Install the mounting bracket to the trolling motor from 24 Volt Trolling Motor Wiring Diagram in accordance to the manufacturer’s instructions, if one is needed. This may require wrenches to tighten the mounting bolts.
Loosen the mounting brackets on the trolling motor by rotating the adjustment screws counterclockwise. Make sure that the mounting bracket clamps are open wide enough to fit over the edge at the top of the bow.
Place the trolling motor on the bow of the jon boat. Slide the trolling motor to the desired location on the bow.
Turn the adjustment screws on the mounting bracket clockwise to secure the trolling motor to the bow. Tighten until the trolling motor is securely attached to the bow.
