What’s more mind calming than the great British countryside? Our summer is always a let down, so enjoying the British countryside in the brisk winter days is a must. This season, the fashion world has seen the return of tweed, corduroy and knitwear. With layering being an all time favourite for most of us, layering using different fabrics adds warmth along with style.
The Heritage Trend
The heritage style focuses on textures, layering different textures helps achieve that British Countryside look. Turning away from colour, focusing on darker tones really helps establish that heritage feel. It’s all about combining different textures and patterns to create a look, with tweed, corduroy and knits being your main focus. Accessorising will add extra detailing, focusing on beanies, knitted scarves and knitted socks will again add further texture. Trapper hats with fur are another option, along with adding further detailing through pocket squares, belts and bags. Although focusing on darker tones will add to that countryside feel, patterns should be a focus too. Fair Isle knits are extremely popular again this season, and layering with a Fair Isle knit can add a dash of colour.
When deciding on the key items to achieve this trend, you need to think about textures and layering. A coat is your top layer, so use this as a statement piece. A quilted jacket is the obvious choice, as this will add that British heritage. If you just remember to think about texture, shearling jackets or duffle coats are equally good additions. Tweed or Corduroy blazers are another great addition, layering underneath the jacket. A cable knit jumper can add warmth and texture, and trousers should be focused around dark tones and again the fabric of the trousers. As we’ve mentioned, accessorising with scarves, knitted socks and beanie Mens Trapper Hat can add further texture along with warmth.
